Big clean-up planned for Burnham-On-Sea beaches after storms

-

A big beach clean-up operation is being launched in Burnham-On-Sea following recent storms.

A series of stormy high tides over the past week has washed up large quantities of debris along the top of local beaches, as pictured here at Maddock’s Slade and near Burnham’s low lighthouse.

A Sedgemoor District Council spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com that it is planning to use a digger and other equipment to clean away some of the waste in the coming days. A report to the council is also being considered this week regarding the costs.

We reported here last week how the gales and stormy conditions had sent large waves crashing onto beaches and sea walls in the area.
