Brave swimmers wanting to take part in Burnham-On-Sea’s annual Stert Island Swim can now sign up to take part in the event.
The entry period for the popular summer event began this week – and entry forms are available now on Burnham-On-Sea.com at the bottom of this page.
The 2,400 metre swim will see up to 80 swimmers taking to the water between Burnham’s jetty and Stert Island and back. This year’s event will take place on Sunday August 19th at 10.30am.
“Swimmers should be aware that the race takes place in a tidal estuary so the challenge is not so much the distance, but the water conditions, which include tricky currents, cold water and the nearly nil visibility,” organiser Linda Krause-Davies told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Participants should be over 18 years old and confident in their ability in open water. It usually takes between 23 and 60 minutes to complete the course.”
The closing date for entries is Monday 13th August and none will be accepted on the day. Entry fees are £7.50 per person.
The entry form is available via the link below.
