Woman bailed after stabbing in Burnham-On-Sea High Street

-

Police arrested a woman and she was later released on bail, pending further investigations following a stabbing in Burnham-On-Sea’s High Street on Tuesday, which left a man with ‘serious’ injuries.

Police sealed off an area of the High Street next to Lloyds Bank at 7.20pm, as pictured, after the 20 year-old man was attacked in a domestic incident.

He ran along nearby Princess Street to the Esso petrol station where staff contacted police.

The petrol station was also sealed off by police as officers began their investigation. Forensics officers were seen gathering evidence in the High Street.

Police spokesman Scott McPherson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police were called by an ambulance crew at 7.20pm to reports of a 20 year-old male having been stabbed in the arm in the High Street.”

“He was taken to hospital with injuries that are serious, but not life-threatening. We cordoned off the scene and an investigation is underway. We would appeal for witnesses to the incident to call us on 101.”

An eyewitness near the petrol station confirmed: “A man was stabbed in the arm – he came running into the shop at the petrol station to get help. There was blood everywhere.”

Five police cars, an ambulance and a rapid response first aid car were called to the incident. Burham High Street re-opened almost two hours later at 9.15pm.
