St. John Ambulance Cadets from Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea swept the board at the weekend’s County First Aid Competitions.
Two teams from the local division, based in Highbridge, competed against cadets from across Somerset.
“The cadets treated casualties with simulated injuries and worked as a team for one test and individually for another,” spokeswoman Sarah Westlake told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The scenarios included fractures, cuts and burns and one test involved resuscitating a non-breathing casualty, which was simulated by a dummy.”
The Highbridge and Burnham teams finished the event in first and second places overall. In first place were Charlotte Aldred and Lucy Westlake. The pair also won the trophy for best team test and Charlotte won the individual award.
In second place were Rhiannon Parsons and Lydia Williams, who also won the cup for the smartest uniform.
Charlotte and Lucy will now go on to represent Somerset at the South West Regional Competitions in Cornwall in May.
