A Highbridge church held a fundraising music marathon and summer fayre on Saturday, featuring scores of local musicians.
The 12-hour event at Highbridge’s St John’s Church drew spectators into the church to listen to the free entertainment.
It was a busy weekend for the church. Its Summer Fayre was also held on Saturday followed on Sunday by a ‘Songs of Praise’ service for the Queen.
“This year our focus for fundraising is Christian Aid. At St John’s we want to help raise funds for all their work worldwide,” said Rev Simon Bale, Assistant Curate.
“Christian Aid does so many wonderful and different things to help those less fortunate than ourselves and it’s our hope that we can raise a serious amount whilst also learning more about what they do, and having fun at the same time.”
“We don’t yet have a final total, but we raised well over £400 for Christian Aid.”
