Highbridge St John Ambulance Cadets recently held their annual enrolment and presentation evening when several newcomers were welcomed and existing cadets received awards.
Four new cadets were enrolled by Assistant Commissioner Youth Sue Winter. The youngsters included Gabby Banks, Andy Pike, Natasha Richardson and James Timms.
The annual trophies were presented by Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor, Eric Gill. Tyler Whitehouse won most promising new Cadet, while James Biggs, Thomas Fincham and Charlotte Aldred shared the attendance trophy.
Thomas Fincham won smartest uniform and Charlotte Aldred gained most duty hours in the community cup. Charlotte also received her 600 hour voluntary service badge.

Three cadets also received their Grand Prior Awards: Bethany Aylward, Rebecca Biggs and Charlotte Aldred (pictured above).
Spokeswoman Sarah Westlake said: “All three are 15, live in Burnham and attend King Alfred School. The Grand Prior is the highest award a Cadet can achieve and it takes four or five years of hard work.”
“The girls studied and passed assessments in 16 different subjects, including camping, football, radio communications, cookery and nutrition, accident prevention, disability awareness, dance and animal care, in addition to maintaining their first aid skills.”
