Three cadets from Highbridge and Burnham St John Ambulance have this week been presented with sought-after awards for their work.
James Biggs, Rhiannon Parsons and Lucy Westlake (pictured) were handed Grand Prior awards during a St John Ambulance enrolment and presentation evening on Wednesday in Highbridge.
The Grand Prior Award is the highest a cadet can receive and they take about four or five years’ hard work.
Sarah Westlake, Divisional Superintendent of Highbridge Cadets, explained to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The cadets need to complete courses and pass assessments in 24 different subjects, in addition to maintaining their first aid qualifications.”
“The cadets who gained their Grand Priors this week have studied a range of subjects, including caring for animals, camping, dance, accident prevention, football, drama, citizenship, cookery and nutrition, and ambulance awareness.”
During the evening, several new cadets were enrolled and certificates and badges were presented to other cadets for work they had done during the year.
