There were patriotic scenes in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (April 22nd) when a parade was held to mark St George’s Day.

Over 50 people took part in the procession along the High Street, watched by flag-waving spectators along the pavements.

A dragon and children dressed in traditional costumes were among those taking part, alongside dancers and drummers, in an event organised by community group BEST (Burnham Events Social Team).

Mayor Bill Hancock, Mayoress Frances Hancock and Deputy Mayor Andy Brewer led the parade. Bill told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a superb parade – a great sign of community spirit and a thank you goes to those who took part.”

A BEST spokesperson said the event had been a great success: “We were delighted with the turnout – it went really well in its second year and we hope to build on it in the future.”

Among those taking part were the Dancefit dancers, BEST’s volunteers, Burnham Cubs and Scouts, the drumming Tiso family, the Mayor and Mayoress.
