Burnham-On-Sea school appoints new permanent headteacher

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Junior School has this week appointed Mrs Ali Pook as its permanent headteacher.

The Governing Body received applications from a strong and experienced field of candidates, and selection took place over a demanding two-day interview process.

Phil Reddish, Chair of Governors, said: “The governors were looking for a Headteacher to build on the school’s many strengths and bring innovative ideas for the future.”

“In Mrs Pook we believe we have found such a leader. Prior to working at St Andrew’s Mrs Pook worked in inner-city London schools, as well as working as a teacher trainer in Nepal.”

“Over a 16 year period at St Andrew’s she has worked as an Advanced Skills Teacher, Assistant Head, Deputy Head, SENCo and safeguarding lead, and since September has been the acting Head Teacher.”

Commenting on her appointment, Mrs Pook said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the substantive Headteacher as I am keen to continue to work closely with pupils, parents, staff and governors and the wider school community to ensure continuing school improvement in a fast changing educational environment.”
