Brean sand artists take part in ‘largest land art project in the world’

-

The ‘largest land art project in the world’ has started at Brean this week, with this huge design being created on the beach and at other sites around the globe.

The ‘Sri Yantra Project’ started at Brean on Saturday, where a 400ft wide Hindu design was crafted into the sand by land artist Julian Richardson and helpers.

At least 15 other artists will also be recreating the same design at locations around the world in coming days.

Event organiser Stuart Dike explained: “This superb sacred geometry has never been created simultaneously around the world by artists who use the landscape as their palette.”

“The Sri Yantra Land Art Project invited sand and land artists around the world to join together in creating Sri Yantras on every continent of the planet.”

“The idea is to offer this symbol with the intent that it may help to create a harmonising affect and serve humanity in these troubling times.”

He added: “This month will be just the start of this project, and we will support anyone inspired after the main event, to create their own Sri Yantra.”

He explained that Sri Yantra is an ancient, sacred geometry “representing the union of the sacred masculine and sacred feminine energies.”

A unique ceremony was also held during Saturday’s Brean Sands Sri Yantra, which included sound, mantra and prayer.
