High spring tides and calm weather have created stunning scenes along Burnham-On-Sea’s coastline this weekend.
The 12.2m tides have been lapping at the foot of the dunes and sea wall, creating colourful scenes at the Yacht Club and besides the lighthouse.
Fortunately, the areas has seen calm weather and there has been no risk of over-topping, although the Environment Agency shut the town’s flood gates at Burnham jetty and Maddock’s Slade as a precaution.
The Spring tides have also been hailed as the lowest for 200 years in parts of the Bristol Channel, making some areas exposed that would usually not be seen.
