Crowds of visitors flocked to Burnham-On-Sea Horticultural Society’s annual Spring Show on Saturday (March 8th).
Organisers said the event, held in the hall at Burnham’s St Andrew’s School, had been “a resounding success” with more than 200 entries on display at the popular event.
Show Secretary David Bryant told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We saw a good range and quality of entries this year, and the numbers were about the same as last year at 220.”
“The wet winter hasn’t created difficult growing conditions for gardeners in the Burnham area and we saw some good quality entries in the floral classes. The daffodils were superb.”
In addition to flowers, the entries included gardening, cookery, floral art and photography.
Alan Purnell, pictured above, won three trophies for his colourful flowers while the overall trophy for the best exhibit in the show went to Ruth Crosby.
The cup for the most points in the children’s classes was won by five year-old Burnham resident James Newman.
