Over 80 runners from across the Burnham-On-Sea area took part in the Sport Relief Mile on Sunday morning (March 23rd).
The fundraising event was held at Highbridge’s King Alfred Sport Centre and was organised in conjunction with Burnham Harriers.
A total of more than £400 was raised for Sport Relief from sponsorship fees.
Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Martin Cox gave his support to the day by starting the races, which covered 1, 3 and 6 miles.
“We had a great turnout of runners and the weather held for the run,” said organsier Penny Cook from 1610, which operates the sports centre.
“Our thanks go to everyone who supported the event and raised funds to help change the lives of people through Sport Relief.”
As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active and raise cash for good causes. Over £50m has been raised this year across the UK.
