Almost 100 people strode out in aid of charity during a fundraising beach walk from Burnham-On-Sea to Brean Down on Sunday (April 1st).
The walkers set off from besides Burnham-On-Sea’s Pier at 11am on their 16-mile walk (see online video coverage here).
Organiser Mike Barsby told Burnham-On-Sea.com the dry, but cool weather conditions were ideal for the event, which generally takes between four and five hours. The walkers also stopped for a picnic lunch at Brean Down.
The main purpose of this year’s event is to beat the 2004 record when a similar walk raised more than £1,000 for the charity Scope. Scope helps the families of, and those coping with, Cerebral Palsy and campaigns for equal rights and opportunities for disabled people.
Among the walkers was Tyler Paul, 8, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, with mum Elaine
Sisters Maureen Parish and Susan Stent donned Easter bonnets for the walk.
