Burnham Sailing Club members ‘stick their oar in’ for charity!

Hundreds of pounds was raised for BBC Sport Relief during a sponsored rowing event held in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday afternoon (March 16th).

Members of Burnham Sailing Club took to the waters of Bridgwater Bay in a small flotilla of ‘tenders’ – the little dinghies used to row out to boats – for a mile-long row from the Club’s pontoons to the jetty.

“It was a tough event with a strong incoming tide and blustery headwinds but everyone finished and had a lot of fun,” Vice Commodore Ken Sowden told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Those taking part included John Clist, Ed Clist, Andy Walker, Steve Short, Dave Wrennal and Ken.

Money raised from the event will go towards the James Cracknell event fund. The event was marshalled by the lifeboats crews from Burnham-On-Sea RNLI who kept a close eye on the rowers throughout the event.
