Ticket prices cut as Sky TV returns to Highbridge’s Oaktree Arena

-

Sky TV will be broadcasting live coverage of a speedway fixture from the Oaktree Arena on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea next Tuesday (June 11th) and visitors will be able to experience the action at a special low entry price.

The Somerset Rebels have cut their admission prices for the Premier League match against the Edinburgh Monarchs, which will be televised live by Sky Sports.

There is also building in an incentive to those that attend next Tuesday’s encounter against Edinburgh for Somerset’s following home match against Workington.

Promoter Debbie Hancock, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are cutting our normal admission prices for the Sky match against Edinburgh to £10 for both adult and concession’s categories while all under 16’s will be admitted free of charge.”

“We have been out in both Burnham-On-Sea and Weston-super-Mare promoting the match, and will continue to be out and about in the area in the days leading up to the meeting.”

“But not only are we reducing our prices for this particular match, on top of that everyone paying the £10 admission fee on Tuesday will receive a voucher entitling them to £2 off the normal admission price for our next home meeting which is on the following Tuesday (June 18th) against Workington in the KO Cup, though I must stress that the discount voucher is only redeemable at that particular match and is not valid for any other meeting.”

“This is the fifth successive year that Sky Sports will have been to the Oaktree Arena to televise one of our match live across not only the UK but throughout the speedway world, including Australia,” she added.

“In each of the previous four years the cameras have been here we have been blessed with an excellent crowd and we would love to maintain that ‘tradition’, and I would strongly urge everyone to come along next Tuesday and sample the action live for themselves, especially if they’ve not been before.”

“The guys at Sky Sports are always impressed with what they see when they come to the region, and by having the cameras here it is good exposure for the area as a whole, especially with the holiday season just around the corner.”

In addition to the reduced admission prices, the Rebels are holding a fancy dress competition that is open to all children with a prize for the best entry.

“There is no particular theme for the competition, but hopefully we will get a good number of entries to give the judges a difficult task in picking out a winner.”

Debbie added: “Edinburgh will provide tough opposition, what with Craig Cook, who was 4th in the recent British Championship and ex-Rebel Claus Vissing, who will, no doubt be looking to prove a point or two, in their septet, plus at reserve they have the current Australian Under-21 Champion Max Fricke, so this will be one that will be well worth coming along to watch, in addition to which, if you record the match to watch back later, you might get to see yourself on TV!”
