Burnham-based Sedgemoor Tourism Association is broadening its focus with a new name that will see it representing the whole of Somerset.
Members of the 100-strong association gathered at Burnham’s Oak Tree Arena on Wednesday (April 29th) where they unanimously backed proposals to become a ‘community interest company’ with the new name of Somerset Tourism Association.
Bob Nicholson, the group’s Chairman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com the group is keen to broaden its role to promote tourism across the whole of Somerset.
“The aims and objectives are to market and promote Somerset as a tourism destination on behalf of, and to the beneft of, tourism-related businesses across Somerset,” he said.
“The association’s committee recommended this change in order to be able to present a county-wide trade representation in order to concentrate in the marketing of Somerset as a destination.”
The group’s branding, constitution and committee is changing as a result of the changes.
