-

A family fun day will be held in Brent Knoll today (Saturday, September 8th) to mark the 50th anniversary of the National Autistic Society.

The fete and garden party will be held at Somerset Court, near the Fox and Goose pub, and will be open to the public from 12pm-6pm.

“There will be live music throughout the afternoon headlined by the popular ‘Gingers’, Rustique with Pete Beech, up and coming local young singer/guitarist Nathaniel Topping, Jake Flood plus others. They will be on stage undercover and there will also be a dance floor,” one of the organisers, Sally Edwards, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Mo, the Bubbleman, will be making giant bubbles that have been increasingly popular at local events over the summer.

There will also be three bouncy castles, a fun stocks, games, craft stalls, jewellery, clocks and other stalls, a food van, cream teas and coffees, candy floss and sweet stands, ice cream, face painting, an auction of favours, a raffle, tombola, bookstall and bric-a-brac.

Bellydancer Rosy Benbow will also be coming all the way from Cardiff to perform at the event. She often competes in leading competitions and performs in London with the Arabian Dance Theatre and other top dance groups.

Somerset Court has been part of the National Autistic Society since 1983 and provides combined residential and day care services for adults with autism within a 26 acre site.

To get to Somerset Court, turn right into Harp Road by the Fox and Goose pub, then as you go over the top of the bridge turn right into Somerset Court.

The National Autistic Society came into existence 50 years ago as a small group of friends determined to transform the lives of people affected by autism. Today it is the UK’s leading autism charity and a national society of friends.
