Final chance to see Burnham artists’ Somerset Arts Weeks displays

-

The work of four artists from Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow is on display during the Somerset Art Weeks Festival.

120 venues across Somerset are showing local art from September 23rd to October 8th.

Among the two local studios joining the festival are The Old Piggery at Middle Burnham Farm, Stoddens Lane, Burnham-On-Sea (TA8 2DF).

There, Burnham artist Judith Champion, pictured above, is displaying her impressive atmospheric drawings and paintings featuring scenes from across Somerset. She uses oils, acrylics, ink and reeds.

Burnham-On-Sea textile artist Lynne Arlow, above, is also showing her colourful range of textiles using fabrics, patchworks and threads to describe ‘time and place’.

A separate studio is set up in Berrow at 12 Julians Acres (TA8 2LZ) where visitors can see the varied work of Janey Brims and John Ruffle.

Janey has a large selection of captivating landscape, wildlife, mythology and dream-themed paintings – with much of her work inspired by nature.

John, right, loves wood’s potential for creating interesting designs and is showcasing his selection of lovingly-created wood art, ranging from pens and toys to large wooden dishes. He is holding weekend woodturning demonstrations during the festival period.

“This year’s festival will be one of the best so far, and gives a platform to showcase the incredible talent that resides in this magnificently creative county,” says Richard Pomeroy, Chairman of Somerset Art Works, who is among the artists with work on display.
