Burnham-On-Sea rock band ‘Some Villains’ have been chosen to play at the Pilton Party music event after winning the final of the ‘Pilton Party Auditions’ competition last Saturday, impressing a panel of judges including Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis.
The final was a battle between seven different acts, each of whom had qualified from a series of five auditions.
Artists had travelled from across the country to take part, with bands from Brighton, Bristol, South Wales and Birmingham all involved. They each had just 20 minutes to impress the judges.
Some Villains originally qualified as a wildcard and triumphed over around 30 other bands who entered the competition.
Their prize is a slot at The Pilton Party on August 31st – an event curated by Michael Eavis as a ‘thank you’ to local residents for allowing him to host the world-famous Glastonbury Festival on their doorsteps.
Previous headliners include Coldplay, Kasabian, Florence and the Machine, and Dizzee Rascal.
Burnham band Some Villains qualified for the event alongside country artist Katy Hurt after their hard-hitting set on ‘The Pilton Stage’ wowed the crowd at Pilton Working Men’s Club.
There was a palpable buzz in the air as the band took to the stage and the audience were not left disappointed. A whirlwind set of high-energy rock followed, with tracks including The Skin, which is the lead single from the band’s second EP ‘Outliers’.
The band were praised for impressing the judges who were evaluating each band’s originality, musicianship, songwriting and overall energy.

Lead singer Edward Graves added: “We’re absolutely delighted to be playing the Pilton Party. It’s very surreal; it all feels a bit like a Salvador Dali painting!”

The band will be warming up for the Pilton Party with a series of gigs to be announced soon.
