10cm of snow could fall in Burnham on Friday, warns Met Office

-

Forecasters have warned Burnham-On-Sea residents to expect wintry scenes like these tomorrow (Friday) when up to 10 centimetres of snow falls in our area.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the Burnham area of heavy snow falling from early morning for several hours.

“An area of snow looks increasingly likely to spread from the southwest. Winds will strengthen and accumulations of more than 10cm of snow could well occur quite widely, with the risk of 25cm or more over high ground,” said a Met Office spokesman.

The snowfall is predicted to sweep into Burnham early on Friday morning and then continue for up to five hours.

Temperatures are not forecast to exceed one degree Centigrade in Burnham all day.

“Clearly there is the potential for some severe disruption, and the public are advised to be prepared to alter travel plans,” added the spokesman.
