Refuse and recycling collections suspended
Significant disruption is expected today (21 December) to waste and recycling services within the Burnham area. It is likely that the majority of scheduled collections will not take place today and any catch up collections from the disruption of Friday (17th) and Monday (20th) will be restricted to where it is safe to do so.
Advice to customers who do not receive a scheduled collection today is to place waste outside in readiness for collection. The Somerset Waste Partnership will aim to return to collect fortnightly collected materials within 5 working days and weekly collected materials within 2 working days. They are using all available resources this week to try and maintain collection services and to catch up in any areas missed today. However, it is possible that the scale of the disruption might mean they will be unable to return to all properties within the periods prescribed in their guidelines and those properties receiving fortnightly services missed today will not be collected until their next scheduled collection on Wednesday 5th January.
All Recycling Centres will also remain closed today, although they will be staffed clearing snow in readiness for opening tomorrow (if there is no further significant snowfall).
