Burnham-On-Sea rescue charity helps medical carers during snow

-

Burnham-On-Sea rescue charity BARB has been helping health carers reach patients across the area during this week’s severe weather.

On Monday, December 20th, BARB’s two 4×4 trucks were used to transport local doctors and community nurses on their rounds across Burnham, Brean, Berrow, Highbridge and beyond.

Burnham Medical Centre and Somerset Care were among the groups who called on the assistance of BARB’s volunteer crews to reach patients in the snow.

“BARB is happy to help the community during these exceptional conditions,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “Our volunteers have been working closely with the care teams, providing safe transport.”

A further two inches of snow fell in the Burnham area on Monday – click here for the latest – on top of the previous heavy snowfall at the weekend, making roads treacherous.
