Colourfully dressed fundraisers will pull on their walking boots for Burnham-On-Sea’s annual Smile Walk today (Sunday, August 28th).
The popular fancy dress walk will be held from 2pm next to the town’s jetty and the walkers made their way along The Esplanade, past the pier, to the bandstand before returning and taking in the South Esplanade.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Peter Gilliard Memorial School in India, which is named after Highbridge resident Peter Gilliard, who died in 2002. The school educates over 360 children and costs £2,000 a month to keep running and is funded partly by events in the Burnham and Highbridge area.
