A night club in Burnham-On-Sea town centre is set to re-open with the new owners hoping to keep it open until 4am on several days each week.
The new owners of Skye Bar in The High Street have applied to Sedgemoor District Council for a premises licence.
If the application is approved, recorded music would be allowed indoors from 8pm to 4am (Thurs to Sat), and late night refreshments would be served from 8pm to 2am (Thurs to Sat). The sale and supply of alcohol would be allowed from 8pm to 3am (Thurs to Sat) on the premises.
Although the application is for a new premises licence, the business previously operated as a night club until the licence was surrendered in July 2015 by the Licence Holder at the time. The hours are unchanged from the previous owner.
An objection to the new application has been received from a local resident regarding concerns about the prevention of crime, disorder and public nuisance.
The Council’s Environmental Health Service has agreed a condition with the applicant to address the issue and the Police have also agreed a set of conditions.
A Sedgemoor District Council spokesperson told Burnham-On-Sea.com that its Licensing and Gambling Panel will consider the proposals at its next meeting in May.
One previous user of the club, who asked to remain anonymous, says: “It’s great that the club is re-opening soon – it’s missed by me and many of my mates and will be a great facility for young people.”
