An 18 year-old Highbridge leisure assistant who does not have a head for heights is planning a skydive on April 1st to help raise funds for Sport Relief.
Alex Crocker, who works at King Alfred Leisure Centre in Highbridge, is planning to make the jump as part of a tandem team at Dunkeswell Airfield in East Devon.
He will jump from a height of 15,000ft or three miles and is expected to reach speeds of up to 120 miles an hour during his descent.
Alex told Burnham-On-Sea.com that despite his dislike of heights he is willing to overcome his fears to raise money for what he believes is a worthwhile cause.
“I am not fond of heights but I thought I would challenge myself this year for Sports Relief as a skydive is on the list of things that I have always wanted to do.”
“I am a bit nervous about it especially as it is planned for April 1st, which may be tempting fate a bit!”
“But I am looking for sponsorship to raise as much money as I can for Sport Relief which makes a huge difference to the lives of people around the world.”
