Sky Sports will be returning to Highbridge’s Oaktree Arena next month when a top fixture is broadcast live to millions of TV viewers.
The Somerset Rebels will be featured live on TV on Tuesday 11th August with the cameras coming for the top of the table clash against Edinburgh.
The Oaktree Arena has featured prominently whenever Sky Sports has covered Premier League racing, this being the seventh year in succession that their cameras have been to the track.
With the Premier League season reaching its ‘business end’, both Somerset and Edinburgh are currently looking for a top two finish in the league table with which to enter the Championship-deciding play-offs.
The sides finished first and second at the end of the regular season, receiving byes directly through to the semi-final round of those play-offs.
The match itself has all the hallmarks of being another classic, as was the case back in 2013 when the two sides played out an epic encounter in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
The last two seasons have also seen the two sides go head-to-head in the Premier League Championship Grand Final, with Somerset winning in 2013 to claim their first ever League title, but lose by a single race-point to the Monarchs in last year’s thrilling Final.
“We are honoured to have been selected once again for a live broadcast by the Sky cameras and they couldn’t have picked a better meeting than the visit of Edinburgh to the Oaktree Arena,” Somerset Promoter Debbie Hancock told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“It does mean, however, that the match which was originally scheduled for Wednesday 19th August will be brought forward to Tuesday 11th August.”
“We are looking into reducing our standard admission prices for the night as we want to pack out the Oaktree Arena for the cameras, and will be making an announcement on this shortly.”
