A £73,000 new look for the skate park at Highbridge’s Apex Park was officially opened on Wednesday (August 6th).
Sedgemoor District Council’s Chairman Cllr Peter Downing officially cut a ribbon to launch the revamped skate park during the annual Playday.
Apex Skate Park was closed for one month to allow the work to go ahead and to schedule.
This period of time allowed Sedgemoor’s contractors to remove the existing ramps, repair the tarmac surface and get the new ramps installed.
£72,994 was spent on the upgrade, with £58,395.20 of the funding coming from RLT3 developer funds for outdoor sport. Sedgemoor District Council also provided the additional funding required.
The new-look park includes a new Half Pipe, Quarter Pipe, Planter, Wedge Flats, Bank Ramps and Pyramid Corner Ramp.
Council countractors Jupiter Play have delivered the project using fastener-free ramps which provide a “smooth riding experience” and require little on-going maintenance and also have a long life expectancy.
