A female swan which survived being shot with an airgun near Burnham-On-Sea last month has been released back into the wild by wildlife carers.
Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here how eight birds had been found shot dead with airgun pellets outside Blackford on 21st February.
The sole surviving swan – which was rescued by Secret World Wildlife Rescue with the help of Burnham charity BARB – was released back into the wild on Friday afternoon, as pictured here.
“It was a lovely sight to see the swan free again,” Secret World’s Graeme Thompson told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“She seems to be in good health again and quickly found a mate on the water.”
The exact location of the release, in West Somerset, is not being published at the request of Secret World.
Three men, aged 34, 37 and 45, were arrested and bailed in connection with the shootings as police continue to investigate the shootings.
