A brand new pocket-sized booklet providing an A-Z guide to the best of Burnham-On-Sea’s shops has been officially launched this week.
Burnham-On-Sea Chamber Of Trade Chairman John Edwards unveiled the pocket-sized guide at a special ceremony in the town council chambers in Jaycroft Road on Tuesday evening (June 20th), attended by dozens of traders.
Over 75,000 copies of the guide have been printed and are being distributed to the region’s tourist information centres, shops, motorway services, pubs and holiday parks in time for the busy summer season.
“Visitors and local residents often say they are unaware of what Burnham has to offer. This guide clearly outlines the vast range of goods and services on offer,” John told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “The new guide will encourage more shopping in our town.”
The booklet – which is available free of charge – shines the spotlight on some of the 100 or so independent shops in Burnham and opens up to an A3 broadsheet showing all the major roads, businesses, facilities and attractions in an eye-catching format. Burnham’s Web site, Burnham-On-Sea.com, features prominently too.
The centre spread features a large, freehand-drawn map of the town centre featuring major roads, toilets and car parks.
The painted images of the shopfronts have been drawn by talented local artist Judith Champion, who was also at Tuesday’s event. Traders were presented with a painting of their shopfront by Mrs Champion and Mr Edwards.
Burnham-On-Sea Mayor, Eric Gill, and town councillor Louise Parkin thanked all those who had supported the guide and praised Mr Edwards’ “incredible efforts” in getting the document published. He was presented with a gift by fellow Chamber of Trade member Alex Turco.
