The Bishop of Bath and Wells led a special service at a Burnham-On-Sea church on Sunday morning (December 18th).
The curate of St Andrew’s Church, the Reverend Sharon Eldergill, was licenced as Associate Vicar of Burnham-On-Sea.
The Bishop, the Rt. Revd. Peter Hancock, led the service, which was watched by a congregation joined by many members of the community.
Revd Graham Witts, Burnham’s Vicar, said: “We were so grateful that the Bishop could join us today to mark the end of one stage of ministry and to celebrate the beginning of another stage.”
“It was a wonderful celebration for a wonderful ministry that Burnham has enjoyed over the past four years – and we know for many more years to come.”
The day was rounded off with a traditional Carol service for the whole community at which children from St Andrew’s School sang.
