The daughter of Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor is planning to have her head shaved to raise funds for a special cause.
Sharon Davis, the daughter of Cllr Martin Cox, hopes to raise a big sum for the Special Care Baby Unit at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol.
It will be held in memory of young Jack Colin Tucker, who was born 26 weeks prematurely and spent 24 days in an incubator at the unit before passing away.
“Sadly he died, but it was because the Special Care Baby Unit had an available incubator for him that he was able to spend some precious time with his mum and dad,” said Sharon.
“So many babies need the support of the Unit and many live fulfilled lives from just having this first chance of life.”
Sharon will have her head shaved at the Avery Estate Agents Grand Charity Ball being held on 18th April at the Batch Country Hotel in Lympsham.
“This will be the sixth Grand Charity Ball organised by Jane Tucker, Baby Jack’s mum, plus Sarah Tyson and friends. This year, it’s hoped to raise £16,000 for a new incubator,” said Sharon.
Donna Webb from Hair@Houlahans salon in Weston, pictured above, will be shaving Sharon’s head on the night. She has been measuring Sharon’s hair growth and keeping it in top condition in recent weeks because her hair will be donated to The Little Princess Trust, who make real hair wigs for children who lose theirs after cancer treatment.
Readers can sponsor Sharon on her Just Giving page here. Prizes for the Grand Draw and Auction on the night, large or small, are being gratefully received via Sarah at Avery’s Estate Agents to reserve your table. 01934 614893 or email sarah@averyestateagents.co.uk
