Shannon overcomes injuries to make England football college team

-

A determined young Burnham-On-Sea football player has overcome a number of injuries to clinch a place on England’s colleges team for a second year running.

Burnham’s Shannon Osman, 17, who plays for Yeovil Town Ladies’ first team, has just been selected to play for her country for a second time.

Shannon has clinched the place despite some serious sports injuries.

“She dislocated her knee and has had to have an operation on it and also spent in a week in Taunton’s Musgrove Hospital with a suspected fractured neck,” her sister Stacey told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It’s a huge achievement and we are so very proud of her after all the determination she has put in. She was determined not to let the injuries put her off.”

Shannon started playing football at the age of six for her Burnham team and went on to play for Somerset and still plays for the U18’s Somerset team. She also plays weekly for Yeovil Town Ladies first team and also for Bridgwater College.

Shannon went through a three-stage trial process to get into the England College team – the second year she has been selected.
