Sexual assaults in Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater ‘may be linked’

-

Police say two sexual assaults which occurred in Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater this week may be linked – and they have issued an appeal for witnesses.

Officers were called to Burnham’s Frank Foley Parkway at 2.30pm on Thursday (June 28th) after a woman was attacked by an Asian man aged between 20 and 30 and of a stocky build.

The man approached her, engaged her into conversation and then sexually assaulted her.

A second sexual assault took place on the same day in Bridgwater which police say may be linked.

The incident happened at 5.50pm in Chedzoy Lane, Bridgwater. The woman was approached by a man of similar description. In this incident the man asked the woman to get into his car. When declined, he grabbed her and sexually assaulted.

“Officers investigating these incidents are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard either of these assaults occur, particularly the woman driver of a red or maroon estate vehicle which dropped a young black woman back to her home address in the Chedzoy area of Bridgwater,” a police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. We never ask your name or trace your call.”
