A pedestrian died after a collision with a car on the A38 Bristol Road at Brent Knoll early on Tuesday morning.
Police said the man was hit by the vehicle on the A38 northbound at around 4am.
The route between the M5 Edithmead roundabout and Brent Knoll was closed for the whole morning to allow Police to begin their investigation.
A spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.”
“The pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. While formal identification is yet to take place, their next of kin have been informed.”

Police advised motorists to avoid the area and consider alternative routes, which were also busy as a result. The A38 re-opened at around 12.30pm.
