Model railway enthusiasts flock to Highbridge train show

-

A model railway show made a return to Highbridge at the weekend when scores of train-themed attractions went on display.

Sedgemoor Rail 2016, an annual pre-Christmas Show King Alfred School in Highbridge, is overseen by Burnham & District Model Railway Club.

The two-day show on Saturday and Sunday attracted a steady flow of visitors who enjoyed seeing scores of displays and layouts.

Burnham & District Model Railway Club had its latest limited-edition wagons on show among the attractions.

Its club spokesman John Langley, pictured top, told Burnham-on-Sea.com: “We have been making our specially-made limited-edition wagons for charity for several years and have raised £58,182 so far for charities including BARB and the RNLI among many others. We hope to reach £60,000 soon.”

The weekend show – featuring layouts of various gauges plus trade stands, displays and demonstrations – will return in 2017 but organisers say they intend to avoid the clash with Remembrance Day in order to encourage more visitors.
