The teams behind Brean Leisure Park and Burnham-On-Sea’s Food and Drink Festival are celebrating after winning top awards at the Sedgemoor Business Awards last night (Thursday).
Brean Leisure Park won both the ‘Family Business of the Year’ award and the ‘Large Business of the Year’ award, while Burnham Food Festival scooped the ‘Community Engagement Award’ during a ceremony held at Bridgwater’s McMillan Theatre.
Brean Leisure Park’s Alan House told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s fantastic to have won these two awards – it’s such a boost for our team in the run-up to the new season. We have invested in our staff and facilities and are really proud about what we do for the local economy.”
The Food Festival’s Bev Milner Simonds told Burnham-On-Sea: “Sarah and I are over the moon to be recognised for our community engagement – we set out to create an event that the whole community is welcome to attend and that the whole community can benefit from. Many congratulations also go to BARB Search & Rescue on being short-listed for a fourth year – a wonderful public recognition for our ‘unsung heroes’.”
Burnham’s BARB was also short-listed for the Community Engagement award, having previously won it three times before, and it congratulated the Food Festival duo, saying: “It’s great to see the award coming back to Burnham, and to see such a hard-working couple as Bev and Sarah winning, whom we congratulate.”
The other winners during Thursday’s event included Independent Trader/ Retailer of the Year to Wilkins Jewellers, Customer Service Excellence to Clavelshay Barn, Micro Business of the Year to Clavelshay Barn, Small Business of the Year to the Preseno, and Engaging with Nuclear Award to MMES.
