Baby boom keeps Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre carers busy

-

After a wet and soggy start to the year, wildlife is fighting back with a baby boom at Secret World Wildlife Rescue near Burnham-On-Sea.

The centre has been inundated with all manner of feathery and furry orphans, requiring staff and volunteers to provide around-the-clock care.

Founder Pauline Kidner told Burnham-On-Sea.com that staff and volunteers have been at “full stretch”.

“We have been caring for a steadily growing number of baby birds, badgers, fox cubs and other wild animals being brought in daily,” she said. “In April alone, we received over 350 animal admissions.

The influx comes as Secret World holds its annual Wildlife Babies Weekend on May 25th, 26th and 27th (10am-4pm each day) when the public will be able to see the young animals and help them.

“Donations of puppy food, cat food and dog food for the wildlife orphans – who are currently consuming around 100 tins a day! – will be welcome,” said Pauline.
