Police close off area of Burnham seafront as they probe woman’s death

-

A section of Burnham-On-Sea seafront was sealed off by police on Wednesday evening (December 6th) as they investigated the “suspicious” death of a 59-year-old woman.

Police taped off the area around a bandstand at the top of Sea View Road and carried out door-to-door enquiries, as pictured.

Police spokesman Dan Mountain told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Officers were called by ambulance teams to a bandstand on the seafront at 7.45pm on Tuesday (December 5th) after reports of a woman being found. She was taken to Weston General Hospital and died a short time afterwards.”

“The initial post mortem on the 59-year-old has led police to treat the death as suspicious and investigations are continuing.”

“We are very keen to talk to anyone who was in the area on Tuesday night.”

He added that police are particularly keen to speak to a person who made a call to the emergency servics from the area at around the time the woman was found.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
