Wildlife carers at Secret World Wildlife Centre near Burnham-On-Sea have been given the ‘seal of approval’ from their latest arrival this week.
This young grey seal is being given round-the-clock attention by the centre’s staff in East Huntspill, having arrived on Saturday (September 24th).
Secret World’s Debbie O’Keefe told Burnham-On-Sea.com the seal, whom they have called Ron, was found washed up on Portishead beach.
“The pup is currently being treated at the centre and it’s the first seal the centre has seen in its care for over a year,” she said.
Meanwhile, Secret World is planning to hold a fundraising beach run from Burnham to Brean on October 30th called the ‘Brean 14 Halloween charity fun run’.
Entrants will be able to choose between a 14k run, a 6k walk or a cycle ride and there will be prizes for the best in Halloween fancy dress and activities for children including apple bobbing, pumpkin stencilling and face painting.
Entry costs £10 for adults, £5 for those under 16, with dogs going free and groups of more than 10 people should call the fundraising team on 01278 783 250.
