New seafront speedwatch group launched in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Seafront residents in Burnham-On-Sea are tackling the problem of speeding motorists with the launch of a new community speedwatch group.

Armed with speed guns, the group of six residents, who include town councillor Neville Jones, launched the group on the South Esplanade on Tuesday evening (July 14th).

They are currently being trained on how to use the electronic speed guns by local police officers and John Alexander, the Chairman of Burnham’s Rosewood Speedwatch group.

“The group is getting final training at the moment and the first full monitoring sessions will begin during the next few weeks,” Burnham Police PCSO Eliot Green told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “Speeding motorists had better take note.”

Cllr Jones has been leading calls to halt the ongoing problems of ‘boy racers’ along the Esplanade for several years.
