Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor has this week vowed to ensure that ‘dilapidated’ seafront shelters on the town’s South Esplanade are refurbished.
Cllr Michael Clarke spoke out at the annual Town Council meeting, held on Tuesday evening (April 25th), saying he would like to see the shelters renovated.
“One battle that’s yet to be fought is around the dilapidated shelters along the South Esplanade,” he said at the meeting.
“They are such an eyesore at the moment – I would dearly love to see them renovated or replaced and ‘made good’. It would help to give that end of the seafront a lift.”
“I will fight to the death to get them restored, just as the late councillor Neville Jones wanted.”
Cllr Clarke told Burnham-On-Sea.com after the meeting that he has not wanted to tackle the issue while serving as Mayor to avoid distracting attention from his other work in the town. His term as Mayor is scheduled to end in May.
