A car careered off the road on Burnham’s seafront during the early hours of today (Sunday, August 8th).
Police were called to The Esplanade shortly before 1.25am after a Peugeot 206 slammed into a decorative roadside column, demolishing it, as pictured here.
Inspector Roger Tolley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police handled a report of a single vehicle accident on the seafront at 1.24am.”
“Our Road Policing Unit attended the scene and found a Peugeot 206 had ripped out a post, leaving a hole in the pavement.”
He added that there had been no injuries and that it is still unclear what had caused the accident.
The path of the car was marked on the Esplanade by police investigating the incident, as shown below.
