Work is underway this week to repair a storm-damaged walkway onto Burnham-On-Sea’s beach for disabled users.
The concrete ramp next to Burnham’s Pavilion is intended to enable disabled beach visitors to access the beach using wheelchairs and mobility scooters, however it’s been unusable.
Sand has been washed away from around the end of the ramp, undermining the concrete foundations, leaving a steep step into a pool of water at the end.
The Environment Agency – which maintains Burnham’s sea wall and steps – has contractors repairing the walkway this week in between the high tides.
