Burnham groups receive donations from outgoing council chairman

-

Two Burnham-On-Sea organisations have been handed financial boosts by Sedgemoor District Council.

The outgoing Chairman of the council, Cllr Ian Dyer, presented two cheques to his nominated charities for 2016/17.

These included Burnham Sea Cadets, who were awarded £500. Cllr Dyer commented: “I have been very impressed by the number of events I’ve attended where the cadets have been carrying out stewarding duties, along with their professionalism.”

Councillor Dyer also presented £500 to Burnham’s Bay Centre, noting that the building “could benefit from some updating”. He said he was impressed at how many organisations and clubs use the Centre and felt a donation would help.
