Burnham-On-Sea RNLI Lifeboats visited by Explorer Scouts
Burnham-On-Sea RNLI’s lifeboats, the Staines Whitfield and Elsie Francis II, were visited by Burnham and Highbridge Explorer scouts on Tuesday March 15th as part of their study of local emergency services.
Also examined, and discussed, were the specialised lifeboat launch facilities and procedures in use at the station.
The 30-minute tour was preceded by the showing of a short video about the RNLI, and the picture above shows the scouts by the rear of the station’s high-tech ‘bendy’ launch tractor with John Sampson, the Burnham-On-Sea RNLI Lifeboat Education and Visits Officer.
John said: “It is by encouraging, and organising, visits to our station that we help to maintain the professional image of the RNLI.”
