Burnham-On-Sea Scouts have this week appealed to local people to help them win a slice of funding for repairs to their leaking roof.
As reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com here last year, the group wants to fix the roof of its HQ at Burnham’s BASC sports ground, but it needs to raise around £20,000 to complete the work.
Each week Mars Confectionery is donating several cash awards of £300 to local community groups and charities across the UK and Ireland – and Burnham Scouts has been nominated this week, but needs votes from local people to get the cash.
“We’re encouraging people to vote for us – they can do so several times with seperate email addresses,” said Sarah Rendell, Chairwoman of Burnham Scouts. She added that the Scout building’s roof continues to deteriorate. “The protective paint on the roof is peeling away, leaving holes and patches of damp and moisture coming through.”
