Burnham-On-Sea Explorer Scouts join 38,000 at World Scout Jamboree

-

Five scouts from Burnham-On-Sea will be among 38,000 youngsters flocking to the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden this weekend.

Andrew Wilkinson, Ben Groves, Emily Burland, Rebecca Roseff and Hannah Pupplett – pictured – were this week given a formal send-off by fellow Scouts when they held a special barbecue on Tuesday evening (July 18th).

The group is among 28 Scouts from the Sedgemoor area who are making final preparations to set off on the adventure of a lifetime.

Over 38,000 scouts from across the world will gather in Kristianstad for the event, for which participants have been preparing for over two years by fundraising and training.

“The excitement is really building – it should be a fantastic experience and we’re all really looking forward to it,” Ben Groves told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We leave on a coach to Copenhagen this weekend where we’ll meet the 4,500 scouts from across the UK taking part before we go on to Kristianstad for the jamboree itself.”

The World Scout Jamboree lets Scouts meet people from around the world, take part in adventures and be challenged to think about global issues and problems.
