Burnham-On-Sea Scouts rally round after pipe burst causes flooding

-

Severe flooding caused by a burst pipe has left Burnham-On-Sea Scouts Hall under several inches of water this week.

A torrent of water flooded into the building, leaving the facilities at the BASC Ground temporarily closed.

Several meetings have been cancelled as leaders and other volunteers have carried out a big clean-up operation.

Vicky Simmons from Burnham Scouts told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The flooding left several inches of water throughout the building and it was deeper in some spots.”

“It’s come as a shock for us all. Our volunteers have been busy at work with wellies, mops and buckets bailing out the water.”

“The flood occupied the whole building, so our floor tiles have had to be lifted up and several kitchen units were damaged as well.”

She added that a commercial dehumidifier has been hired this week to remove the dampness. A frozen water pipe which burst has been blamed for the incident.
