Huntspill and Highbridge Scout Group has this week launched its popular low-cost Christmas card delivery service.
The service has been provided for many years and is one of the group’s main annual fundraising events, requiring hours of work by the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and their parents, as well as the Sedgemoor Explorer Scouts, plus a band of dedicated helpers.
Cards are delivered to Pawlett, East and West Huntspill, Highbridge, Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow at a cost of just 15p per card.
The group’s distinctive collection boxes are located at Pawlett Stores, The Crossways Inn, West Huntspill, The Crown Stores, East Huntspill, Snippers Hairdressers, Highbridge DIY, ASDA in Highbridge, Burnham Road Stores, West Coast Properties, Thomas’s Shoe Repairs and Rectory Road Stores in Burnham.
Cards need to be dropped into one of the collection boxes by Friday 16th December and deliveries will then begin on Saturday 17th December and will all be completed by Christmas Eve.
“We endeavour to deliver all the cards we receive that have a full address, but lack of address – such as ‘John and Jane’ – or destinations such as Brean, Bridgwater, Sheffield or Glasgow are beyond our capabilities and therefore incur costs for us to redirect them through Royal Mail,” Pat Weller, Group Treasurer, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supports our Scout Group by using the service and especially the businesses which allow our boxes to be placed in their premises and hope that even more people will give us a try.”
